Railroad?

Rail Trail?

Bar rail?

Nope.

Although that last one makes sense, too.

Our main inspiration for The Rail comes from surfing. The rail is the edge of your surfboard and controls a lot of your movement on the wave.

More than anything though, it’s a personal decision, and there’s a board for everyone.  You may prefer a wider rail to cruise along.  Or you might want a sharper rail to really shred.  Probably depends on the day, right? And before you ask- no. Neither one of us are very good at surfing! But you don’t have to be good at something to appreciate it right?

Here at The Rail, we’re down for anything.  Need a relaxed spot for that business lunch on Tuesday?  Come on down. Want to grab a mimosa and hide from your responsibilities all morning?  Cool, we’ve got your back.  Just be careful, they might drive by you on the patio!

WHO ARE WE?

Brothers with equal parts hard work, head-in-the-cloud dreams, and stubbornness. Resilience, passion, and a tendency to get pedantic.

Sprinkle in a bit of manic energy and you have the Hadfield brothers.

We can be found with friends and family, a few shots of tequila, and approximately four hours of heated conversation. You can choose the topic next time you’re at the bar.

We have more years of combined restaurant experience than either of us have been alive.  To be honest, we’re not sure if that’s good or bad…

Meet the Brothers:

  • Executive Chef & Owner

Tyler unknowingly began his career at the ripe age of 14 when he began bussing tables at one of the largest and most successful restaurants on the Lower Cape. He flourished for a number of years before branching out to seek new opportunities. He has dreamed of opening his own restaurant since those early teenage years, and he is excited to finally bring that dream to fruition!

He’s the quiet one of the two Hadfield brothers. The back of the house is his home where he immerses himself in his favorite aspect of this business: the food.

Tyler doesn’t promise you a good time out on the patio or great conversation by the bar; he’ll leave that up to Cameron. What he will promise you is his sincere dedication to always make your meal the very best, each and every time you come in.

  • General Manager & Owner

After spending a decade in Boston running from his restaurant roots, Cam reestablished himself on the Cape. With some trial and error, he realized the corporate 9-5 just wasn’t for him, and started egging Tyler on about opening a restaurant. They decided to take it seriously in 2020 (crazy year for that, right?) and began lining up the pieces. Pairing a big smile with a nerdy love of spreadsheets, he’ll keep the business running smoothly in the background. You focus on the great food coming out of the kitchen.

Cam runs the front of the house at The Rail. He lives right in Orleans, and you’ll see him working the bar all summer. He’s excited to get to know everyone. Besides, what good is a restaurant without regulars?
